John D. Gould Antiques -19th c. American Antiques and Antique Frames

ABOUT US

I have been an antique dealer for forty years, the last fifteen full-time.  We have always dealt in American antique furniture, mainly cherry and figured maple -- functional pieces in good condition.   Beginning in the late 1960’s we were, in addition, quilt specialists – when very few antique dealers were handling them.  For several years we had a huge inventory, would sell from our house, at Brimfield (yes, I was doing Brimfield when there was only one field there), at Pennsylvania markets, and at Russell Carrell shows.

About twenty years ago, we  would occasionally buy antique picture frames.  The 19th century lemon gold ones would sell quickly. That began my interest, study, and near daily pursuit of simple American gilt frames.  For several years now, I have maintained an inventory of over 500 19th century antique frames.  While most people still think of me as an antique dealer, some now think of me as a antique frame dealer.
